MIDDLETOWN — A 21-year-old Newark man has been arrested in connection with a Feb. 19 shooting incident in the area of Naughty Lane and Vincent Circle, authorities said.

James Ashley was charged with two counts of first-degree reckless endangering, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by person prohibited, second-degree conspiracy, and criminal mischief, Middletown police spokeswoman Senior Lt. Christine Brenner said.

Mr. Ashley was taken into custody on Thursday during a search warrant execution at his home, police said. Two firearms, ammunition and marijuana were located in the residence, police said.

Additional charges resulting from the search warrant included possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts of possession of a firearm by person prohibited, and possession of ammunition by a person prohibited, police said.

Mr. Ashley was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and issued a $95,000 cash bail on all charges. He was then committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post the bond, police said.

Police asked anyone with information on the Feb. 19 incident to contact Det. Adam Starrett at 696-2574 or via email at astarrett@middletown.delaware.gov.
