DOVER — A 31-year-old Dover man was arrested in connection with a shooting at the Capital Inn last weekend, Dover police spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman said.

Caleb Collins was taken into custody without incident at approximately 12:33 p.m. Tuesday at a residence in the 7000 block of S. Dupont Highway in Felton, authorities said. The Dover Police Department, Delaware Probation and Parole and the U.S. Marshals’ First State Fugitive Task Force made the arrest.

On Sunday at approximately 2:34 a.m., Dover officers were called to the Capital Inn at 1426 N. Dupont Highway and found that a 23-year-old man had suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the back, Sgt. Hoffman said. He was transported to Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus, Dover, for treatment.

Mr. Collins was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree robbery, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on a $115,000 cash bond.

Additionally, Mr. Collins’ brother, Joshua Collins, 36, of Felton, was found in possession of 27.5 grams of methamphetamine during the arrest Tuesday, police said. He was charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Joshua Collins was released on a $120,200 unsecured bond.
