Amory named Milford School District interim superintendent

Posted

MILFORD — The Milford School District has chosen Dr. Bridget Amory to be interim superintendent, the district announced Wednesday.

The appointment, which will take effect June 1, came after superintendent Dr. Kevin Dickerson announced earlier this month he will step down from that role after close to seven years.

Dr. Amory is the district’s director of student learning.

“Over the years, Dr. Amory has exemplified exceptional dedication, leadership and an unwavering commitment to the academic growth and success of our students,” said school board president Jason Miller in a press release. “She has consistently demonstrated the ability to inspire and empower students, educators and staff alike, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence in her various roles as an educator.”

Dr. Amory has more than two decades of experience in education. She was an elementary school teacher for eight years. Before becoming the head of student learning in 2017, she served as an elementary school principal in the Lake Forest School District and as Milford’s elementary education director.

Dr. Amory also serves in several prominent roles in the broader state education community, including as president of the Delaware Association of Curriculum and Instruction Supervisors.

“Through these efforts, she is able to actively contribute to shaping educational policies and practices throughout Delaware,” the district wrote in the press release.

Among Dr. Amory’s responsibilities will be overseeing the recently adopted strategic plan, a five-year road map to accomplish the school district’s goals.

As for Dr. Dickerson, he will become the superintendent of Polytech School District.
