AIDS Walk Delaware set for Sept. 17

Posted

The annual AIDS Walk Delaware will take place Sept. 17, with walkers stepping off at 10 a.m.

The walk takes place in both Wilmington (Brandywine Park) and Rehoboth Beach (Grove Park). This year’s theme is “Step Up, Step Out: Remove Stigma, Eliminate HIV, Improve Lives.”

Walkers or sponsors can visit here. It is free to walk, but participants who raise $30 receive a T-shirt.

The event is presented by AIDS Delaware and the Delaware HIV Consortium.

AIDS Walk Delaware is the state’s oldest and largest HIV/AIDS fundraising event and has historically attracted over 600 participants and volunteers. The funds raised provide free HIV testing, case-management services, HIV-specific mental health counseling, HIV education and prevention programs, and housing services.

Check-in begins at 9 a.m. at Brandywine Park, 1080 N. Park Drive, and at Grove Park, Columbia Avenue and Grove Street. Dogs are welcome.

Walkers are asked to follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state COVID-19 guidelines.
