DAGSBORO — The fifth annual Dagsboro Night Out is coming up Oct. 10 at the Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Department, offering several hours of fun, giveaways and activities.
This year’s presenting sponsors are Jim’s Bait & Tackle, Morse Roofing & Siding, Marvel’s Portable Welding & Heavy Equipment Repair, Delaware Botanic Gardens at Pepper Creek and American Legion Post 24 of Dagsboro.
Bethel United Methodist Church is an associate sponsor of the event, which runs 5-7.
Highlights this year will include Miss Delaware 2023, Dagsboro’s own Emily Beale, who will be available for photos and autographs. This will be her first appearance in town since her crowning in July.
Also new this year will be a dunking booth, where attendees can attempt to sink Dagsboro Police Chief Steven Flood or Fire Chief John Marvel.
The dunk tank is free to try, but donations will be accepted for the police department’s K-9 program.
There will also be many freebies — hot dogs and sodas, bike raffles for kids and adults, and other prizes, plus several businesses and civic groups will offer giveaways and games.
The Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Department will have its safety house available, as well as “target shooting” with a fire hose, a fire extinguisher simulator and complimentary firetruck rides.
In addition, the Sussex County paramedics will be instructing CPR skills.
Also in attendance will be the Delaware State Police Community Engagement Unit and helicopter, Delaware Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement, the Department of Correction and the Delaware National Guard.
The fire department is at 28331 Clayton St.
