The Crisfield-Somerset County Times is proud invite the public to participate in an upcoming special publication to honor our military veterans.

Currently, readers are invited to submit a photo of loved ones who have served in the U.S. armed services. The keepsake magazine “A Tribute to our Heroes” will be inserted in the County Times during the week of Veterans Day 2022.

“This is one of my favorite projects of the year,” said Konrad LaPrade, vice president of sales and marketing. “We have been overwhelmed by the response from our readers these past three years, and I’m really excited to be able to honor those who are and have served.”

This may include air force, army, coast guard, marines, navy, reserves and other related U.S. service branches. Photos that were submitted in previous years do not need to be re-submitted. All entries from previous Tributes to Our Heroes will automatically be published again in 2022.

• If your veteran’s photo is being submitted for the first time: Upload the photo at the website http://www.bit.ly/ESTributetoHeroes2022. Ideally, digital photos should be JPEG format at a 300-dpi resolution.

• If your veteran’s photo was published in 2021 and you have NO changes: You don’t need to do anything. Photos will automatically be published again.

• If your veteran’s photo was published in 2021 and you DO HAVE changes: To request updates to an existing entry, please email submissions@iniusa.org (and note “Eastern Shore” in the message).

The deadline for all submissions is Friday, Oct. 21, at 8 p.m. There is no residency requirement for veterans who are included. A family may submit as many veterans as they’d like, simply by creating a new entry each time.

The following information is requested: a portrait of the veteran; the first and last name, as it should appear in print; service branch(es); years served (such as 1997-2007); and contact information for the person submitting (in case the publisher has questions).

Anyone who needs in-person assistance can visit their local library during operating hours: Crisfield Library at 100 Collins Street, Princess Anne Library at 11767 Beechwood Street or Ewell Library at 20910 Caleb Jones Road.

Tribute to Our Heroes 2022 will be published on Wednesday, Nov. 9, in the County Times newspaper and posted online.

“It’s cool to see the representation through all the years of all the people who have served — men and women,” said Heather Cregar, director of marketing and promotions. “It’s a cool thing to see, even if you don’t know everyone in there.”

There is no charge for the public (both readers and contributors), thanks to the generosity of the Tribute’s advertisers.

“We are honored to partner with the community in recognizing the dedicated men and women whose military service has protected our freedom through the generations,” organizers said.

If your business or organization is interested in sponsoring a page of veteran photos in this publication, please contact marketing consultant Karen Riggin at kriggin@iniusa.org or 443-880-0053.
