Woodson Elementary, Washington Academy and High School students can take food home for the weekend

Posted

CRISFIELD — On Fridays every student at Woodson Elementary School has the opportunity to take home a grocery bag of food provided by the Maryland Food Bank.
Bags are packed and ready for students to pick-up as they leave their classroom each Friday afternoon.

Parents do not need to sign-up for this benefit, however, if you do not want a bag, please advise your child not to participate. If you do receive a bag be sure to check it for any products your child may be allergic to such as dairy, peanut products, or other items.

At Washington Academy and High School, the school’s food pantry can provide students single-serving food items through the Back Pack Fridays program. If you are a student who may be home alone and responsible for your own meals on the weekend or could otherwise benefit from this service contact school nurse Lynne Brumley before Friday so it can be ready before buses leave that afternoon.

If there is a need in the household during other days of the week parents or guardians may call Mrs. Brumley at 410-651-0480 to make an appointment to visit the food pantry. This is a confidential service.
