CRISFIELD — Do some citizen science and join volunteers and Janes Island State Park rangers for a Christmas season bird count Tuesday, Dec. 27 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Rangers and members of the Tri-County Chapter of the Maryland Ornithological Society will participate in the 123rd annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count on Janes Island.

Count and identify all of the birds seen that morning with the data reported with other data from similar counts across the country.

Participants will be transported to Janes Island from the park ramp by boat. There are no bathroom facilities on the island and those attending should bring water, food, waterproof boots and binoculars.

Space is limited, call the park office at 410-968-1565 to register. Registrants will be notified in the event of an inclement weather cancelation.
