WESTOVER — In honor of Recovery Month, Somerset Emergency Services is teaming up with the Somerset County Health Department to host a Rise Up: Walk to Remember event on Saturday, Sept. 18 at the Somerset County Recreation and Parks field on Sam Barnes Road in Westover.
Participants are urged to create a team, carry signs, wear purple, and walk in memory of someone lost to addiction or to celebrate and advocate for recovery.
The event will feature local vendors offering resources and materials on substance abuse and recovery services, free food, music and a guest speaker. There will also be training on how to administer Narcan. Registration begins at noon. If participants would like to register early, visit https://bit.ly/3mcQQ58. The first 10 registrants will receive a free T-shirt. Sheriff Ronnie Howard will begin the opening ceremony with a welcome at 12:30 p.m. and the walk will officially kick off at 1 p.m.
