Milford residential blaze a case of arson

MILFORD - A fire that heavily damaged a residence Sunday afternoon was intentionally started inside the home, the Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal has determined, spokesman Michael Chionchio said.

The blaze, reported shortly after 2 p.m., occurred in the 500 block of Seabury Avenue near South Walnut Street. The Carlisle Fire Company arrived on the scene with smoke pouring out of the house. Firefighters searched the residence and found nobody inside, Mr. Chionchio said.

Deputy fire marshals were called to the scene and investigators are launching a criminal investigation to solve the arson, Mr. Chionchio said.

Fire damage was estimated at $150,000. There were no reported injuries.
