DOVER — The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s online magazine, Outdoor Delaware, earned a first-place award in the National Federation of Press Women awards competition Friday.
Outdoor Delaware had been in publication since 1956, but when print subscriptions reached an all-time low, DNREC transitioned it from a print publication to an online magazine in 2020. Hosted here, the new Outdoor Delaware online magazine is a guide to nature, conservation and fun.
Readers can meet lemurs and radiated tortoises, watch a ship sink to an artificial reef, learn about electric vehicles, explore underwater jellyfish, find out where recycling ends up and much more. DNREC adds new posts with photos and videos every month, showcasing the department’s talented team of engineers, scientists and other experts.
Each year since 1940, NFPW has sponsored a professional communications contest to reward excellence in communication in a wide range of categories since 1940.
