DOVER — COVID-19-related hospitalizations hit the lowest total in almost two weeks in the latest update. As of 6 p.m. Saturday, 129 Delawareans were hospitalized with coronavirus, a decline of 17 from the day before.

According to data from the Division of Public Health, there have been 98,570 coronavirus cases in Delaware over the past 13 months. In total, there have been 1,578 deaths, according to data from the Delaware Division of Public Health.

Twenty-one people were critically ill in the latest update.

Over the past week, 5.5% of tests, a key metric for state officials, were positive.

There were 96,370 cases, 158 hospitalizations and 1,573 deaths one week ago, with 90,536 cases, 100 hospitalizations and 1,555 fatalities four weeks ago.

Delaware had administered 562,730 doses, with 126,125 remaining. Most of those are from Pfizer or Moderna. In all, 190,159 people — about 20% of the state’s population have been totally vaccinated here.

New Castle County has seen 57,861 cases and 788 deaths, while there have been 16,261 cases and 325 fatalities in Kent County and 24,243 and 465, respectively, in Sussex County.

Just 3% of deaths have involved individuals younger than 50, including only two under age 18. Those who are 65 and older make up 83% of deaths but 14% of cases.

Residents of long-term care centers account for 47% of deaths, although that share has declined since the start of the pandemic. Less than 3% of total cases involve this subgroup.

Forty-eight percent of cases and 70% of deaths involve White residents of the state, while 23% of cases and deaths involve Black Delawareans. Hispanic and Latino Delawareans make up 16% of cases but only 5% of deaths. Delawareans of other races account for 13% of cases and 2% of deaths.

Females account for 53% of cases and 50% of fatalities here.

In total, 675,001 Delawareans, or about two-thirds the state’s population, have been tested. About 1.63 million individual tests have been taken here.
