CRISFIELD — The Crisfield Area Chamber of Commerce is scheduling ribbon cuttings to welcome new businesses ahead of the Black Friday and Small Business Saturday holiday buying days.

Witches’ Stitches is not technically new but opened early last year just weeks before the COVID-19 shutdown in mid-March.

Owned by Meredith Jane Lehan and located at 946 West Main Street it offers curated collections of gently-used clothing consisting of vintage and modern styles along with occasional pieces as well as local art and crafts. On Facebook and Instagram the public is invited to join chamber members for the 4 p.m. ribbon cutting this Thursday, Nov. 18.

Closer to the City Dock at the former Water’s Edge Café at 1106 West Main Street is King’s Pizzaria which opened Nov. 8 and taking orders at 410-968-1500 (look for the menu on Facebook). A ribbon cutting in conjunction with the Somerset County Economic Development Commission is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23.

On Saturday, Nov. 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. Miracle on 10th Street takes place at the parking lot between 10th and 11th streets.
Buddy Ward, past president of the chamber, will again erect the crab pot Christmas tree and serve as DJ and emcee that night when the tree is lit by Mayor Barry Dize.

The Crisfield Academy and High School Choir will sing, there will be vendors organized by the Crisfield Arts and Entertainment District Project, and there will be an ornament project for children to take home. R&B Ranch will take visitors on carriage rides as well.

City Hall is organizing this event so for details call Kate Finucan at 410-968-1333.

Nov. 27 is also Small Business Saturday with many special from participating merchants and artists.

Also upcoming are the Crisfield Christmas Parade 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3 and the second annual boat parade from Somers Cove Marina to Tawes Nursing Home starting 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4.

To participate in the street parade, which starts at the Crisfield Library and heads to the City Dock, contact Ed Goyda, 410-651-0852. For the boat parade, message Jennifer (Jen) Ward on Facebook or call 410-968-0925 if a boat slip is needed. This event will be followed by a party at the Red Shell Shanty.
