Seaford Memorial Day ceremony is Monday in Kiwanis Park

SEAFORD — Residents are invited to spend part of their holiday weekends at Kiwanis Park on Monday, when a Memorial Day observance will be held.

The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at the Seaford Veterans’ Memorial in the park, at Stein Highway and Atlanta Road.

It is sponsored by the Seaford Veterans Committee, comprised of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4961, American Legion posts 6 and 37, Marine Corps League Detachment 780 and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 9.

The guest speaker will be retired U.S. Army Capt. Pete Bohn, who served in Vietnam and Iraq.

A salute and recognition will be paid to military personnel past and present, as well as any Gold Star families in attendance. There is no parade.

If there is inclement weather, the event will take place at Seaford High School, 399 N. Market St., at 11.

At approximately 12:30, American Legion Post 6 on Front Street and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4961 on Middleford Road will host open houses, with lunch provided at 1.
