COACHES: Delaware — Ryan Carty (4-0, 1st season); Towson — Rob Ambrose (72-73, 13th season; 75-80, 14th season overall).

CAA: Delaware — 2-0; Towson — 0-1.

NATIONAL RANKING: Delaware is No. 6 in STATS FCS poll.

LAST WEEK: Delaware beat Hampton, 35-3; Towson lost to New Hampshire, 37-14.

SERIES: Delaware leads, 11-9.

LAST MEETING: Towson won, 31-24, in 2019.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK: Ryan Carty, talking about UD’s up-tempo offense: “I do call plays fast (but) I don’t know how frenetic we are when we’re out there. We do get to the ball as fast as we can. It’s not as crazy as I’ve seen some teams do it — that are sprinting to the nearest ref and chucking the ball to them. It’s not that crazy. But we do try to get a lot of plays off. I think the more plays you run, the more points you score. The more points you score, the more odds you have to win.”

KEYS TO THE GAME: Since reaching the FCS national title game in 2013, Towson has posted just three winning seasons (the Tigers didn’t play in 2020). This fall Towson’s only victories have been over Morgan State and Bucknell. But the Tigers have continued to give Delaware trouble, winning four of the last six meetings with the Hens. And an upset of Delaware would give Towson’s season a jump start. ... The Hens have helped themselves by getting off to good starts. They’ve out-scored their opponents by a combined 70-10 in the first half this season. Delaware’s 14-7, season-opening win at Navy was the only time a game was still up for grabs in the fourth quarter. ... After being sacked a total of nine times in UD’s first two games, Nolan Henderson has been sacked just once in the last two contests. That’s a good trend for Delaware in trying to keep him healthy. And Towson has only three sacks so far this season. Over the last two games, Henderson is 59-of-77 for 675 yards with nine touchdowns and only one interception

NOTES: The Hens have scored at least 35 points in three straight games for the first time since 2007. ... Delaware is the only team in the CAA that hasn’t made a field goal yet this season. The Hens are 0-for-2. ... At No. 6, the Hens are the highest-ranked of the five CAA teams in the STATS FCS Top 25. ... Delaware opponents have scored on only 4-of-9 red-zone chances this year. ... UD volunteer assistant coach Tom Flacco will be be facing his alma mater. He was the CAA Offensive Player of the Year for Towson in 2018. ... The Hens are on the road next Saturday with a 3:30 p.m. game at William & Mary.
