Please vote to retire Andy Harris in the first congressional district. Congressman Harris has worked for years to support the ultra-conservative goals of some in his party and he now chairs a group whose specific interest is to represent those goals. Harris is not representing people in the first district.
Blane H. Miller III will represent his constituents. Two interests to Eastern shore Marylanders are the food industries and the increase in extreme weather events. Mr. Miller wants the federal government to increase visa caps, simplify the application process, and expedite processing times to ensure fair treatment of Eastern shore seasonal workers, and flexible visa terms, so that the crab processing plants and others in the agricultural sector can do business. These are all "ways to address the labor needs in sectors where Americans are less inclined to work, particularly in H-2A agricultural and H-2B non-agricultural roles.”
Although he may still need convincing that climate change is the cause of extreme weather, Miller believes that every individual should strive to minimize their carbon footprint. In times of emergency he will work to ensure that FEMA is implemented and be there for his constituents.
In my opinion Harris will always work to support the interests of a few in his party and those who are very wealthy. Based on his record, Harris would continue to do little for the seasonal migrant workers and the industries which employ them. He would see that Congress would do nothing to encourage the industries which could provide clean energy if the fossil fuel industry would be impacted.
Take a look at Blane Miller III’s website at: miller4maryland.com and retire Andy Harris.
