Cambridge City Commission votes to remove Mayor Bradshaw
City attorney will begin proceedings
By Dave RyanCAMBRIDGE – Mayor Andrew Bradshaw’s term at the city’s top job might be coming to an end.
During Monday’s meeting of the City Council, proceedings were begun to remove him from office, following his recent arrest. Mr. Bradshaw has been charged with 50 counts of so-called “revenge porn,” after intimate photos of a former girlfriend were posted online from a computer traced to his home, according to the Office of the State Prosecutor.
Commissioner Chad Malkus (Ward 5) released a statement saying, “Tonight I made the motion and it was seconded by Commissioner Roche, and the commissioners voted unanimously to direct the city attorney to issue a formal complaint to remove the mayor from office under Charter Provision 3-35.”
Mr. Bradshaw has been charged, but not found guilty of any crime. His attorney has stated that the mayor intended to continue serving the citizens of Cambridge, but he was later placed on indefinite leave of absence, with the powers of the mayor’s office going to Council President Lajan Cephas.
