Rehoboth Beach fireworks are a go for July 3

REHOBOTH BEACH — The city’s Fourth of July fireworks display will launch as scheduled July 3.

The event will include two sets by The Funsters band at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand — one at 8 p.m. and one following the fireworks display, which starts around 9:30.

“We’re really excited that the country is opening back up and that we are able to celebrate with our annual fireworks display,” said City Manager Sharon Lynn.

“It’s been a challenging year-and-a-half and, like everyone else, we’re eager to have a little fun and enjoy the kind of summer activities that Rehoboth Beach is so well known for. We are confident that we can have a safe fireworks display this year and delighted that Rehoboth Beach is a happy place for so many. We look forward to a great summer.”

The city will take COVID-19 safety precautions at the display, as approved by the Division of Public Health. These include providing hand-sanitizing stations, mandating masks for those who are unvaccinated and encouraging social distancing between groups.

In addition, City Hall will reopen to the public June 1. Commissioner meetings will again be in person in the City Hall meeting room, with public attendance encouraged.

Hand-washing stations will be made available at City Hall, and masks will be required for individuals who are not vaccinated.
