Habitat launches repair program for COVID victims

Posted

Habitat for Humanity branches in all three Delaware counties will help launch a pilot version of the Healthy Homes Repair Program for those impacted by COVID-19.

With gifts from the Welfare Foundation and Barclays, Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County will work with Sussex County Habitat for Humanity to remedy issues like leaking roofs, poor functioning heat or inadequate railings for families or individuals sheltering in place.

There are plans to bring Central Delaware Habitat for Humanity into the program in April.

The pilot will last until June and will serve 25 families across the state. Eligible families must be qualified homeowners and have had at least one family member test positive for COVID-19.

Applicants should apply to their Habitat affiliate directly.

Those in New Castle County should email repairs@habitatncc.org or call 652-0365, ext. 110. Eligible Sussex County residents should email michael@sussexcountyhabitat.org or call 855-1153, ext. 208.
