Kent County Association of Realtors announces award winners

FELTON — The Kent County Association of Realtors announced the winners of the 2023 Realtor of the Year and Good Neighbor awards at the annual oyster dinner April 20 at the Felton Fire Hall.

Each year The Kent County Association of Realtors, recognizes an outstanding Realtor member of the Association for the effort and work expended in the interest of their fellow Realtors, their profession, and the community. These Realtors embody the spirit of what it means to be a Realtor through their service to their clients, cooperation amongst peers, dedicated service to the association, their business accomplishments and participation in leadership at the local, state and national levels.

Steve Schmidt was named 2023 Realtor of the Year. As the 2021 and 2022 President of the Kent County Association of Realtors, Mr. Schmidt dedicated countless hours to the Association, it’s members and the community.

He has upheld an ethical and professional representation of the real estate industry throughout his career. As the owner of RE/MAX Horizons in Dover and an actively selling Broker, Mr. Schmidt mentors other agents while committing to the association through his current role as Past President on the Board of Directors, the Chair of the Bylaws Committee and participating on other committees such as KPAC, Golf and Grievance Committees.

He holds his Certified Residential Specialist designation – the highest credential awarded to Sales Agents, Managers and Brokers.

Outside of real estate, he has sponsored numerous local school organizations and clubs, assisted in coaching for a local girls’ softball league, and supports the American Heart Association and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Lydia Ragonese was named a nominee for the Kent County Association of Realtors 2023 Realtor of the Year.

Serving as the chair of the Kent County Association of Realtors Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee, Ms. Ragonese is taking an active role in leadership through fostering improved engagement with the diverse membership and local community.

She has experience serving on various community boards and committees throughout the state including the Committee for Family Outreach of Deployed Airmen and the Delaware Hispanic Commission and their Economic Sub Committee.

Ms. Ragonese holds a master’s in business administration from Delaware State University and continues her education as a Realtor and Associate Broker with Patterson Schwartz through designations and certifications such as PSA, MilRES & CPRES.

Ms. Ragonese actively assists the career growth of other agents within her brokerage as a New Agent Liaison.

Ivy-lyn Sia was named the 2023 Good Neighbor.

The Good Neighbor award winner embodies the desire to give back and do their part in helping the community.

Ms. Sia joined Welcome Home Realty in 2013 and has dedicated 170 hours to the American Heart Association.

What started out as volunteering to model for the annual Go Red for Women Fashion Show and Luncheon turned into working behind the scenes to ensure the fundraiser can continue to raise enough funds to help thousands in need.

For the past 10 years, Ms. Sia has chaired the fashion show committee to aid in its planning and organizing. She works hard to recruit models, sponsors, donations, and more.
