Four theft arrests made after Perdue report

MILFORD - Four arrests followed a several weeks long investigation into an alleged internal theft reported by Perdue, Milford Police said.

According to authorities, Lorenzo Jones Jr., 40, of Dover, and Lloyd K. Dukes, 44, of Felton, removed cases of raw chicken from the plant several times, with the assistance of Kenneth W. Smith, 40, of Felton.

Mr. Jones and Mr. Dukes would then drive the cases off Perdue property at 255 N. Rehoboth Boulevard to a predetermined location, police said.

Authorities said Laroya Buck, 37, of Dover, would then pick up the cases and a refrigerated box truck.

Police said that Perdue incurred losses of over $30,000.

Ms. Buck was charged with theft $1,500 or greater (two counts) and second-degree conspiracy. She was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on her own recognizance.

Mr. Dukes and Mr. Jones were each charged with theft $1,500 or greater (seven counts), and second-degree conspiracy. They were arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2. Mr. Dukes was released on his own recognizance and Mr. Jones was issued a secured bail.

Mr. Smith was charged with theft $1,500 or greater (five counts) and second-degree conspiracy. He was released on his own recognizance.

All defendants were issued a no contact order with Perdue.
