DOVER — The Dover Century Club has awarded a $1,000 college scholarship to Dover High School senior Ellisyn Arthur, daughter of Jim and Whitney Arthur of Dover.
Scholarship Committee chairwoman Karen Robinson announced the award at the club’s annual spring luncheon.
“Ellisyn's letters of recommendation highlight her outstanding academic achievement and strong leadership skills, and her deep commitment to helping others exemplifies our club's mission of community service. Elliysn has a bright future ahead of her,” said Ms. Robinson.
At Dover High School, Ellisyn has taken Advanced Placement courses and is ranked first in her class of 384 students.
She has been honored as a Delaware State Secretary of Education Scholar for her exemplary work ethic, dedication, and accomplishments both in and out of the classroom. She is the treasurer of the National Honor Society, an AP Scholar of Distinction, and was awarded an AP Capstone Diploma.
In addition, Ellisyn has participated in marching and concert band, field hockey, golf, and soccer, where she earned the Varsity Field Hockey and Golf Awards.
Her volunteer service has included serving as president of Dover High’s Teen Vision Community Service Club, which held a Thanksgiving food drive and supported Adopt-A-Child. She has volunteered at the Down Syndrome Association of Delaware's summer camp, AP Bootcamp, and the Delaware State Fair Culinary Department.
In the fall, Ellisyn will attend Boston College and major in either business or psychology.
