Milford’s New Life Moving transfers ownership

Posted

MILFORD — New Life Moving and Storage is getting a new life of its own with a change in ownership.

Roger Wood began the business about 21 years ago and, ever since, has provided customers moving services as far as his vans will drive.

But, as of Thursday, it is owned by his son, Matthew Wood; his son-in-law, Coy Deason; and Ryan Womax.

“That is what blesses me — instead of turning it over to someone that doesn’t know me or know about us,” Roger said. “That is why I am so excited to see what they are going to do with it.”

He added that his 21-year stint as a mover has allowed him to see much of the country — every state but Alaska and Hawaii.

His only goal was assisting as many families as possible.

“I was able to buy and purchase trucks and even a tractor-trailer at one time, knowing that I was going to make a change,” Mr. Wood said.

In taking over the business, the new owners hope to bring it to new lengths.

“Our goal is to expand the company,” Mr. Womax said. “We are pushing new software and new advertisement lengths. We are super excited to work with the local community and just take the company to the next step.”

Roger said he believes he has left them the right tools to do so.

“They are going to do very well,” he said, “because they already have a system in place and different things that I wish I had.”

As they begin, the three men want to grow the impact Roger made on the community.

“We are just continuing on the legacy that started about 20 years ago,” Mr. Deason said.
