GEORGETOWN — Hans Medlarz, Sussex County’s engineer since 2015, announced his retirement in December 2023 and was recognized by County Council during its meeting Tuesday.
Despite announcing his departure and appearing on agendas as “county engineer (Ret.),” officials confirmed in May that Mr. Medlarz is drawing the same salary and has the same responsibilities.
The county also noted that he would transition to a part-time role sometime this summer. In January, Michael Harmer was named Mr. Medlarz’s successor.
