MILFORD — A welfare check of a driver found unconscious led to the arrest of a 36-year-old Greenwood man Thursday, Milford police spokesman Detective Timothy Maloney said.

Bruce E. Worthy Jr. was observed sitting in a McDonald’s drive-thru lane for approximately 15 minutes, police said. Officers were called to the scene at approximately 12:14 a.m., and as they attempted to wake Mr. Worthy, they saw two semi-automatic handguns in plain view, Detective Maloney said.

Mr. Worthy was also found in possession of approximately 14.8 grams of cocaine and determined to be under the influence of alcohol, according to authorities.

A vehicle search yielded another loaded semi-automatic handgun and a loaded AK-47 pistol concealed inside a bag, police said.

The suspect was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony (four counts); drug dealing; possession, purchase, own or control of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited (eight counts); carrying a concealed deadly weapon (two counts); third-offense DUI; and possession of a firearm while under the influence.

Mr. Worthy was presented at Justice of the Peace Court 2, Rehoboth Beach, and committed to the Department of Correction in default of $142,500 cash bail.
