DOVER – Family Medicine Physician Pavandip Virdi, MD, is the most recent addition to Bayhealth Family Medicine, Dover. She joins family medicine doctors Brintha Vasagar, MD, MPH, FAAFP, and Kandis Samuels-Leutzinger, MD, MPH, who also offer OB-GYN care; OB-GYN Stephen Kessler, MD; and Licensed Professional Counselor of Mental Health Suzanne L. Chafin, LPCMH. All providers are accepting new patients.

Dr. Virdi offers primary care for all ages but has special training and experience in geriatric medicine. This means she can help seniors, in particular, and their caregivers, with their health concerns and the common conditions and challenges of older adulthood. She has interests in dementia, palliative care and end-of-life care.

Dr. Virdi recently finished her fellowship in the Department of Geriatric Medicine at Abington – Jefferson Health in Abington, Pennsylvania. Previously she was at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia where she completed a residency and internship with the Department of Family, Community & Preventive Medicine.

Through her medical training throughout the Philadelphia area, Dr. Virdi has gained clinical experience providing care for a range of patients in hospitals and primary care clinics, including homebound senior citizens and residents of assisted living and nursing home facilities.

She helped develop and lead a series of monthly educational and support group sessions for caregivers of Drexel Family Medicine patients. Passionate about teaching others, Dr. Virdi has educated older adults on various healthcare topics by leading community center discussions and has taught medical students about chronic care management. She’s also done extensive community service such as providing medical care and kits to people in need at shelters and through Philadelphia-based service events.

Dr. Virdi is accepting new patients at Bayhealth Family Medicine, Dover, located at 1074 S. State St. The practice is home to Bayhealth’s Family Medicine Residency Program where eight, first-year resident physicians work alongside seasoned physicians in caring for patients.
