Speak Up: Legislation aims to bring companies to Delaware

Posted

Competition is fierce when it comes to attracting companies to Delaware. With Senate Bill 127, First State public entities and businesses can perhaps speed by the pack of would-be out-of-state hosts. Infrastructure is costly, and the newly created Site Readiness Fund is aimed to bring a financial boost to qualified entities. Through the legislation, grants, loans and economic assistance will be available for infrastructure construction, renovation or expansion projects for commercial and industrial sites. First State businesses can tap into the fund, as well, for expansion purposes.

  • Headline really ought to say, “Bring back Chrysler and GM,” amongst others. — Jon Walczak
  • Boy, missing the point today. — Benjamin Black
  • Companies are packing up in blue states and running full speed to red states. Same with citizens, as well. You should probably vote Republican if you like jobs in your state. If you like “enhanced” unemployment and a $10 increase in food stamps, then vote Democrat. — Kelly Lord
  • Yup, Delaware giving money away. How did that work with Fisker? Yup, old Joe said billions! How did that work out? And what about Bloom Energy, who gets our money out of our utility bills every month? Just look under qualified fuel cells on your utility bill! The Bloom Energy that only has a small percentage of their current job openings in Delaware. Most of the high-paying jobs are in California. The Bloom Energy that just leased space in Fremont, California, for manufacturing! — Cal William
