Smyrna shooting leaves woman injured

SMYRNA — A 30-year-old woman suffered an apparent gunshot wound to her upper body Sunday on Howard Street, Smyrna police said.

The woman was located after officers were called to the area at approximately 1:05 a.m. Witnesses on scene were uncooperative, police said.

It was believed that the victim was shot during a struggle over a firearm with an unknown suspect, police said. She was treated and released for her wound at Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus in Dover.

An investigation continues, and police asked anyone with information to contact Detective Carrigan at 653-9217. Anonymous tips may also be submitted to Delaware Crime Stoppers here.
