MILFORD — Senior Cpl. Timothy “T.J.” Webb of the Milford Police Department will receive a Law Enforcement Purple Heart award during a City Council meeting Monday.

Chief Kenneth Brown will present the honor on behalf of the American Police Hall of Fame & Museum. The meeting at City Hall will begin at 7 p.m.

On Dec. 10, 2020, Cpl. Webb was shot multiple times while serving a warrant in Rehoboth Beach with the U.S. Marshals Service’s Fugitive Task Force. He was transported to an area hospital where he underwent surgery, originally in critical but stable condition.

“He spent a week in the hospital and then spent two weeks in a rehabilitation facility,” Chief Brown said. “What impressed me most was his attitude through all of it. His spirit was high, and it was infectious to all of us. There is no doubt that it played a big part in his recovery.”

Cpl. Webb began part-time duty with the task force upon promotion to senior corporal in 2018.

The Law Enforcement Purple Heart is issued to officers who are injured or disabled in the line of duty. Purple Heart recipients are eligible if they were required to seek professional medical attention and were out of work at least one week. The American Police Hall of Fame has been honoring law enforcement officers and their contributions since 1960.

Cpl. Webb started with the Milford Police Department as a patrolman in 2007. From 2012-17, he partnered with Henk, a K-9 officer.

Following graduation from the police academy in 2004, Cpl. Webb began his career with the Camden Police Department. He is a certified hostage negotiator and is part of Milford’s Special Operations Group.
