Man shot in foot in Dover; suspect sought

DOVER — A suspect was being sought after a 21-year-old man was shot in the foot Thursday, Dover police spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman said.

Officers responded to a shots-fired report in the area of South New and West Reed streets. The victim was located, and officers provided aid until medics arrived and transported him to Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus in Dover.

While the victim has been uncooperative, according to police, officers have been able to determine that a Black male suspect exited a dark-colored sedan parked at South Governors Avenue and Division Street and approached the area of the shooting on foot. The suspect opened fire on a group of individuals and then fled on foot, Sgt. Hoffman said. The suspect subsequently entered the parked vehicle and drove off.

Police asked anyone with information to call 302-736-7111. Callers may remain anonymous. Tips may also be submitted to law enforcement via Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333 or here; a cash reward is possible for information leading to an arrest.
