Loitering violation brings weapons arrest in Dover

DOVER — An 18-year-old man was arrested on weapons offenses after initial contact by police in connection with loitering Sunday, Dover police spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman said.

Upon officers’ arrival, Charmize Seymore-West fled the scene in the 100 block of South New Street at approximately 12:01 p.m., police said. He was apprehended a short time later.

As Mr. Seymore-West was running, police said, he threw a loaded 9 mm handgun and a baggie containing 21 grams of marijuana.

The suspect was charged with possession of a firearm/ammunition by a person prohibited (three counts), carrying a concealed deadly weapon, illegal gang participation, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana and loitering. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on a $10,220 cash bond.
