DOVER — A 29-year-old Hartly man was arrested on drug and firearm charges following a Wednesday investigation, authorities said.

Dover police said Brandon Thompson was initially seen at approximately 8:49 p.m. in the parking lot of a restaurant in the 300 block of North DuPont Highway, where officers observed Mr. Thompson conceal an item underneath his truck.

A short time later, officers conducted a traffic stop on Mr. Thompson and saw a handgun inside the truck, police said. He was taken into custody without incident.

During a search of the vehicle, officers located a magnetic box underneath the truck. Quantities of MDMA, methamphetamine, marijuana, cocaine and heroin were also found, police said. An additional amount of heroin was located on Mr. Thompson once he was transported to a holding facility at the Dover Police Department.

The suspect was arrested on multiple firearm- and drug-related possession charges. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on a $50,000 secured bond.
