Dover police: Teen faces charges after found with gun

DOVER — A 15-year-old male was found with a handgun and arrested during a shoplifting investigation Monday, according to Dover police spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman.

The teen and a 13-year-old male had been taken into custody by a loss prevention officer at 1:06 p.m. at Redner’s, 25 Greentree Drive, after a reported shoplifting. The juveniles had attempted to steal from the store, Sgt. Hoffman said.

Officers arrived and found a handgun in the 15-year-old’s jacket pocket, police said. Both teens were arrested by Dover police without incident.

The 15-year-old was charged with shoplifting under $1,500, third-degree conspiracy, carrying a concealed deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited.

The 13-year-old was charged with shoplifting under $1,500 and third-degree conspiracy.
The juveniles were released into the custody of their guardians.
