According to police, officers assisted Delaware Probation and Parole with the search at approximately 1:17 p.m. Authorities said Herman Hicks, an active parolee, was found in possession of a firearm and drugs.

During the search of Mr. Hicks’ home in the 100 block of Spruance Road, officers located a loaded handgun, 65 bags of heroin and 5.9 grams of marijuana, police said.

Mr. Hicks was charged with possession of firearm/ammunition by person prohibited (three counts), possession of heroin, and possession of marijuana. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $50,150 cash bond.
