Currently the city clerk, Ms. McDowell’s career with Dover began Aug. 3, 1987, when she was hired to serve as an administrative assistant in the Finance Department. It will end exactly 34 years later, on Tuesday.

She was appointed assistant city clerk and city treasurer May 11, 1998. She has served in her most recent role since May 17, 2006.

Council members unanimously approved a resolution honoring Ms. McDowell on Monday.

In addition to her years of service, the city clerk was especially praised for her work during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure council meetings could be viewed and attended online.
