Dover Air Force Base now requiring masks indoors

Posted

DOVER — Col. Matt Husemann, commander of the 436th Airlift Wing, announced Wednesday that all personnel at Dover Air Force Base are now required to wear a face covering, regardless of vaccination status.

Health Protection Condition (HPCON) Bravo was instituted in accordance with Department of Defense guidance released July 31.

Any base member experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should stay home and should immediately notify public health officials and his/her chain of command to determine an appropriate course of action.

“The health, safety and readiness of our Dover family is our top priority,” said Col. Husemann. “HPCON Bravo heightens awareness for all base personnel and provides commanders additional options to protect our workforce and manage risk.”

The colonel also said HPCON Bravo is the most accurate description of the current situation, as it indicates an elevated risk of sustained community transmission and exposure to COVID-19 for base personnel.
