Delivery truck driver robbed in Dover

DOVER — A delivery truck driver was robbed at the Rodney Village Shopping Center early Monday, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Heather Pepper said.

Police said the driver, a 37-year-old Wilmington man, pulled his truck to an alley at the rear of the shopping center at 1632 S. Governors Ave. to complete a bread delivery to Porto Bella Pizzeria. As he parked, he was approached at the driver’s door by a male suspect holding a handgun. The suspect pointed the gun at the victim and motioned for him to exit the truck, Cpl. Pepper said.

When the driver exited, the suspect entered the truck and rummaged through it. He then left with the victim’s personal property and fled on foot north through the alley, police said. The victim was not injured.

Police were called to the scene at approximately 3:37 a.m.

This incident is being investigated by the DSP Criminal Investigation Unit. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Patrick Campbell at 302-698-8504. Information may also be provided to Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333 or here.
