Delaware to stop doling out COVID tests at libraries
By Tim MastroDOVER — The free COVID-19 testing program in the state’s public libraries has been discontinued due to supply challenges, the Delaware Division of Public Health confirmed Monday.
“We continue to offer many convenient times and locations for testing throughout the state,” said DPH in a statement. “Delaware libraries have been excellent partners in this program and we are thankful for their partnership.”

Libraries received their final shipments of the rapid at-home tests last week. Some may still have the kits available. The tests are free and do not require a library card.
If an individual has symptoms of COVID-19, they should not come to a library for a kit. Instead, they should visit one of Delaware’s other fixed or community-based testing locations.
The program was first announced Aug. 3. DPH said in early September that 52,200 testing kits had been distributed.
The tests are self-administered at home using a shallow nasal swab and take approximately 15 minutes to show results.
