CLAYTON — A 72-year-old Clayton man was indicted by a federal grand jury on child pornography charges Tuesday, David C. Weiss, U.S. Attorney for the District of Delaware, announced.

Rick Schriber is facing counts of receipt and distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography, according to a news release.

The indictment alleges that Mr. Schriber received and distributed child pornography from approximately September 2018 through August 2019 via e-mail exchanges with another individual.

Law enforcement officers searched Mr. Schriber’s residence on Oct. 20. Agents allegedly discovered child pornography, which Mr. Schriber is also charged with possessing, and arrested him. Mr. Schriber has been detained since his arrest.

If convicted, he faces a mandatory minimum penalty of five years in prison, with a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. Actual sentences for federal crimes are typically less than the maximum penalties. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after taking into account the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
