Car crashes into Milford barber shop near post office

MILFORD — On Wednesday afternoon, a car crashed into a building across the street from the Milford Post Office, 105 Causey Avenue, which is home to several hair stylists.

The driver was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash. She was in good spirits and appeared uninjured at the scene. There were no injuries reported by police.

Tom Smith, who owns Norman’s Deluxe Barber Shop and Shave Parlor on the second floor of the building, was finishing up a client’s haircut when he felt the collision.

“I was cutting hair and heard the crash,” he said. “I thought it was on the street. I ran down and could hear the engine revving inside the building.”

Mr. Smith was able to make contact with the driver quickly.

“The lady was climbing out of her car. I just checked with her to make sure she was okay. Then I called 911,” he said. “That was almost 4 p.m.”

While Mr. Smith said nothing like this had happened on the street while he’s been working there, he did note that it’s a dangerous, high traffic thoroughfare.

“My truck actually got hit one time parked out on the street,” he said. “People go too fast through here all the time.”
