Arrest made in Dover convenience store shooting

DOVER — A 31-year-old Newark man was arrested in connection with an Aug. 8 shooting inside a Royal Farms, Dover police spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman said.

Through investigation, detectives obtained arrest warrants for Stevenson Benoit, who turned himself in to the Dover Police Department on Thursday.

Mr. Benoit was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, tampering with physical evidence and second-degree conspiracy. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on a $22,000 secured bond.

Police said a 35-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the right pelvic area in the incident. The victim said he was randomly confronted.
