I am attaching a direct quote from the story, “The depth — or the death? — of the Delaware Way.” I find that this second paragraph is partially true (up to the second comma) and partially false:
“The term relates to the clublike, cooperative way that Delaware politics have historically run, with Democrats and Republicans working across the aisle that often relegates the roles of traditional polarized party politics seen throughout national government today.”
The “Delaware Way” was a term that referred to the “good old boys” club. Everything was done behind closed doors and with winks and nods. It is present in the way people were picked for candidates. The guy that’s the governor right now is there because his previous boss said he’d be good for the job, not because he was the best candidate.
This article tried to say that there may be a new way forming (hopefully). Maybe people are tired of the same old way (finally). They want things to be done on the up and up.
Don’t try revisionist history on people who have been here more than five years! I’m not a lifelong Delawarean, but I’ve been here 25 years and seen enough. Try not to whitewash or snow people!
I like your paper, but articles like this just frost me. Please be more accurate when you are researching old traditions. Ask people who have been around since President Joe Biden was a senator. You might be surprised at the result!
