Delaware Sea Grant offers free crab trap inspections

DOVER — This summer, Delaware Sea Grant will host several crab trap checks for recreational crabbers working the state’s inland bays.

Attendees will learn about the ecological and recreational problems lost crab pots can cause the bays, as well as update their individual crab pots for free.

Participants are allowed to bring two pots to each event, and Sea Grant professionals will add floats, rope, cull rings and terrapin excluders, as needed.

The meetings are scheduled for:

  • July 12 at 6:30 p.m., Bay Colony Clubhouse, 29467 Colony Drive, Dagsboro
  • July 26 at 10 a.m., Warwick Park, 31234 River Road, Millsboro
  • Aug. 13 at 10 a.m., James Farm Ecological Preserve, 30048 Cedar Neck Road, Ocean View
