Following more than two hours of public comment in opposition to a building moratorium in Sussex County on Jan. 14, new Councilman Matt Lloyd said a ban is necessary. He added that he would be continuing the effort, regardless of the dire consequences described by most of the audience during council’s meeting.
- They need to stop building, unless the builder makes the road changes all the way to Del. 1. — Ronald Kline
- Was this done when your home was built? — Kevin McCarthy
- My place was built back in 1982. That was before they started building up the beach area, and I am at the north end of Sussex. There hasn’t been much building in my area, maybe 30 houses in the last 10 years. Those are in a 5-mile radius of me. They have a hard time selling some houses in this area. They keep dropping prices until they are 90 days or longer for sale, then some are pulled off the market for a while. — Ronald Kline
- No one cares about all the people who need homes now, as long as it doesn’t affect them. — Clint Brothers
- There should be a ban until the plan for infrastructure gets corrected. — Jesse Showard
