UMES senior this summer earns Cal Ripken League Player of the Week honors

PRINCESS ANNE — University of Maryland Eastern Shore senior infielder Dillon Oxyer (Pasadena, Maryland) earned Player of the Week honors (July 12-18) from the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League for his strong performance at the plate for the Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts (13-20).

Oxyer hit .400 for the week with six hits — including a pair of doubles, a triple, a home run — and drove in three runs, while scoring eight.

Over 21 games played, the Computer Science major is hitting .264 with 18 runs scored, three home runs and 14 RBI.

The Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League is an amateur summer wooden bat baseball league comprised of six teams in the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Region. Teams play a 36-game season and rosters od 35-40 players are made up of those under the age of 23.
