CAMBRIDGE – The search for a suspect in the killing of Roderick Russ came to an end on Saturday.

In the early morning hours of March 12, Ryshon Kelly, 23, of Cambridge was arrested in Dover, Delaware. Kelly was served with an arrest warrant charging him with 1st-degree murder and other related charges in the stabbing death of the victim, Roderick Russ. This incident occurred in October of 2020.

The memory of Russ has been kept alive by his family and friends, who continued pressing for the apprehension and arrest of the suspect in the months that followed the killing.

“The Cambridge Police Department would like to thank the Maryland State Apprehension Team, the U.S Marshalls Fugitive Task Force, and Dover Police Department for all the hard work in helping to locate and arrest Kelly, who has been on the run for the past 17 months,” a statement from the Cambridge Police Department said on Monday. “We would also like to thank the concerned citizens for their efforts as well.”

Kelly is currently being held in the Kent County Detention Center awaiting extradition back to Maryland.
