There are a few spaces remaining at the Dorchester Center for the Arts Pottery Wheel class to be held at the facility. For the beginner, this six-week class will lay the foundational skills for work on the pottery wheel, including throwing, trimming, and glaze application. Class fee includes clay, glazes, kiln firing, and use of studio tools: bucket, sponge, wire tool, wood rib, wooden knife, metal rib, needle tool, and ribbon tool. This is also an excellent option for those with a little experience to review basic skills. Fees are $155 for DCA members; $190 for non-members, and materials are included. Instructing will be Patrick Jurena. In The Galleries In March In the Galleries in March are (below), The Red Fox by Larry C. Reese; The Green Sea Turtle by Don Meritt, and an offering by Frank Deak.[/caption] The Dorchester Center for the Arts will present In the Galleries in March, “Seeing the World Through a Photographer’s Eyes.” The show will feature the works of Frank Deak, Larry C. Reese, Jack Upchurch Jr. and Don Meritt. Also on exhibit will be “Memories in Clay,” created by patients in the Art Therapy Program at the Eastern Shore Hospital Center. The work was made using 1,000 year old clay from “The Hill” in Easton. Show dates are March 5-28, and the exhibit is sponsored by Upwind Systems LLC. An Artists’ Reception will be held on March 14 from 5 – 7:30 p.m. at the Center, featuring live entertainment and light refreshments. For more information, call 410-228-7782.
