Salsa premieres at Dorchester Center for the Arts

Attention dance lovers! Dancing on the Shore brings their master talent to the Dorchester Center for the Arts for a four-session introductory salsa series taught by Aggie Beletsky. Classes will take place on the second floor of the George B. Todd Performance Hall.

Dancing on the Shore, founded in 2001 by Amanda Showell, offers professional, high-quality social, ballroom, Latin, country and club dance instruction throughout the Eastern Shore of Maryland and in Delaware. Their instructors are former competitors/performers and are certified professional teachers.

Aggie started professional dance training in her 20s, when she walked into an Arthur Murray Dance Studio in San Diego, California. Although she had been partner dancing (waltz and swing) with her father back in Poland, she never had any formal training prior to entering that dance studio. Shortly after placing first in her first few amateur competitions, she started competing Pro/Am with her dance teacher at competitions all over the U.S.

Aggie joined Dancing on the Shore nine years ago and has experience teaching all levels.

Please note that the mask policy of Dancing on the Shore will be in effect for their classes at DCA: Fully vaccinated people can attend dance lessons without wearing a mask only if they provide proof of vaccination. Participants will need to either bring in a photocopy of their vaccination card (or proof of vaccination) or they can bring their card and studio staff will take a photo of it. Only once proof of vaccination has been provided can a student attend class without a mask. Students will need to continue to wear a mask until proof of full vaccination (two shots of Pfizer and Moderna, one for J&J) is provided. All unvaccinated students must continue to wear masks during class.

Classes take place Jan. 13 and 27, Feb. 10 and 17, from 6-7 p.m. The cost is $50 for both DCA members and non-members. Singles are welcome.

For additional program information or registration, visit DCA online at www.dorchesterarts.org or stop by 321 High Street in Cambridge, on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., or Thursday, noon to 8 p.m. Programs at DCA are supported by the Maryland State Arts Council.
