Special to The Dorchester Banner/DCA Performing at DCA’s 8th Annual Guest Artist Event will be Quintessence, featuring musicians Bob Kamman, Brian Walden and Scott Davis.[/caption] Dorchester Center for the Arts presents the 8th Annual Guest Artist Gala on April 18 at 6 p.m. The event will be held in the 2nd floor Performance Hall and the event theme is “Starry Night.” In addition to DCA Annual Sponsors MTS Broadcasting and The Dorchester Banner; this year the lead Guest Artist Sponsor is 1880 Bank. The gala includes a live and silent auction, music for listening and dancing, heavy hors, and a cash bar. Music will be provided by the Quintessence band, featuring the musical talents of Bob Kamman, Brian Walden and Scott Davis. Tickets are $65 for DCA members; $75 for non-members. DCA announces inaugural Plein Air Golf Tournament Dorchester Center for the Arts will present its first Plein Air Golf Tournament and Cocktail Party on May 3, at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina. This event is sponsored by PNC Wealth Management. This is a 9-hole only Scramble with 4-person teams. Prizes will be awarded to 1st and 2nd place teams; all other teams will be placed in a drawing for a prize. Registration for golfers and painters is at 1 p.m. and there will be a shotgun start for golfers at 2 p.m. Entry fees are $70 – person/ $280 per team and include green fees, cart and the cocktail party. Plein Air Painters will be at the tees and driving range, and paintings will be completed that day. A wet paint sale, silent auction will be held during the cocktail party. Cash prizes will be awarded to the first and second place Judges’ Choice paintings; all others will be entered into a drawing for a cash prize. A limited number of painters will be accepted on a first-come, first serve basis. Tickets for the cocktail party only, which will begin at approximately 4:30 p.m., are $25. Enjoy golf grill favorites plus extras, and a beer and wine cash bar. The cocktail party will be held at the driving range. Pre-registration is encouraged, and entry forms for the golf teams and for the artists are available at Dorchester Center for the Arts, or can be downloaded from its website, which is dorchesterarts.org. Save The Date: Daryl Davis returns to Cambridge June 6 Thanks to the generosity of the Pauline F. and W. David Robbins Charitable Foundation, DCA will kick off the Robbins Concert Series with Daryl Davis on June 6. Back by popular demand, Daryl Davis will present a free lecture at 4:30 p.m., sharing his experiences. Then, an 8 p.m. will be the concert that will have everyone on their feet and dancing. Tickets are $20 - DCA members; $25 - nonmembers. More information will be available soon.
