Local fire companies mourn loss of Preston Volunteer Fire Company member
An outpouring of support came from surrounding firefighters after Preston Volunteer Fire Company announced the death of lifetime member Troy Brooks.
Mr. Brooks passed on Tuesday, Aug. 10. He joined Preston Volunteer Fire Company on Oct. 22, 1988. In his 33 years of active service with Preston Volunteer Fire Company, he held several positions including president, vice president and fifth trustee.
"Troy was a huge asset to our Chicken BBQ, Carnival, parades and much much more," the announcement read. "His service and commitment to the community will not be forgotten."
The officers and members of East New Market Volunteer Fire Company added their sympathy and condolences.
"[You're] in our thoughts and prayers during this time," they wrote.
Federalsburg Volunteer Fire Company and Hurlock Volunter Fire Company also gave their condolences.
"...He will be deeply missed," Federalsburg Volunteer Fire Company wrote. "Rip. Brother we will take it from here."
"On behalf of the officers and members of the Hurlock Volunteer Fire Company, we would like to express our sincere condolences to the Preston Volunteer Fire Company on the passing of active member Troy Brooks," Hurlock officials said. "We thank you for your service to Preston and surrounding communities year after year. Rest Easy Brother."
